Mrs Dodgykeper works for Microsoft and was at a presentation about this yesterday and was raving about it, anyone use it yet, it looks like fun:

I remember the buzz of excitment when Microsoft first bought this company. Haven't heard much since.

I've tried to use it but to be honest, it's completely useless without an offline version. Who wants to upload 100's of MB just to find their synth doesn't fit together properly?

I remember seeing this a good while back and thinking it was amazing. Just after signing up and going through one - it took about 30mins even after I resized all the 30 images down to 750px - Linky.
To be honest I think it's cool but nothing amazing, I couldn't see myself taking 1-500 shots to get a decent synth. It's too time consuming and doesn't look THAT good in the end.

Can't load on my machine at the moment but i had seen it before.

I think its beauty may be its ability to combine images from different peoples photostreams and provide a composite of the overall scene. All the more reason why you should be careful opening up your photostream copyright to creative commons or the like ;)

I thought it a clever idea alright.

Wonderful idea. Imagine exposed places like statues or famous buildings, composed from hundreds of photographs. You can "zoom in" to see fantastic details.
I can imagine it for creating electronic versions of statues or models. And I would like to try it with some basic things, like a flower and so. Just to see how it works. Virtual 3D statute of a real object. Brilliant!
