    Bit of an oxymoron, no?

anarchy doesn't mean chaos, more in reference to self regulation and a lack of a central government.

Can we do without this type of thing? This isn't the CSC forum for clubs and societies to plug their latest event. Its a discussion forum!

I don't see what the problem is....it's good to know what's happening

If even a significant minority of societies did the same the forum would be useless for having a discussion on. If we're to allow this type of posting, it should be in a sub forum in my opinion.

Mightn't be a bad idea, actually.

    Never gonna happen.

Threads will pop up regarding the more popular/important events, but perhaps there should be a ban on individuals starting new threads promoting their events.
There was a similar discussion surrounding societies promoting themselves for Freshers' Week and we just bundled them into the one thread.

Oi, that's when the beers are on. Beers/bears > Anarchists.

Wow, I just thought of a drunken bear, that'd be awesome!

Anarchists are not against organisations, we just believe organising in a different way.

Anarchism can roughly divided into two main schools of thought - Individualist and Social.

Individualist anarchists would be against all forms of organisation and authority.

However, social anarchists, particularly libertarian communists in the platform* tradition, (which many anarchists in Ireland are) would be heavily in favour of organisation, albeit in a non-hierarchical, democratic matter.

*The Platform has 4 key organizational features which separate it from the rest of the anarchist movement. They are:
    Tactical Unity
    Theoretical Unity
    Collective Responsibility
    Federalism

well, it has led to some discussion! :D

if there's a rule banning advertising events, feel free to remove it. However, i don't see much harm postings TCD events in the TCD forum.

I still would have thought that it should go under the 'Pimp Your Society' thread

Yes i don't see any harm postings TCD events in the TCD forum. And "Pimp your Society" was only last updated 28-09-2008, and is not popular. Indeed I think most of the stickies should be removed. Long live anarchy on the TCD forum
