Range of influences would include Smashing Pumpkins, Queens of the Stone Age, Muse, Age, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Cinema Strange.

Looking for people interested in something a bit odd and fun, different to what's being played out there crrently.

I'm thinking of mixing in a big of classic rock/metal too, at least the higher energy bit and the odd solo/lead element, as well as some synth. I'm thinking the sound would be a bit like a Smashing Pumpkins/Bauhaus/Birthday Massacre fusion.

    yeah....like the birthday massacre
    nice fusion
for sure id like to do this
are you thinking a male or female vocalist

Hmm what else do you play other than bass? I had another guy interested in bass, but your focus seems a bit more along the lnes of what I'm doing... I'm no good at this sort of thing, aspergers and all :|

I need an interested second guitarist before I make any decisions I think.

    Yeah Cork City.

I'd be going for a sound a bit less preppy than TBM though, that element of their music sometimes gets on my nerves. I think the Pumpkims/Bauhaus/TBM with some general RAWK thrown in is about right though it could end up taking a slightly different direction.

I'm unsure about the vocals. Having someone who can also sing would be good. I want to try a bit of singing/song writing too, I'm not great but I think if i practiced and kept in a limited range, it'd work out.

I think a whole chunk of that message went missing.

    Anyway I'm still looking for a guitarist/keyboardist.

I sent you a PM Seraph as your musical influences seems fairly close to mine.

Apologies to the guy that offered bass a while back in the last thread.

I'm no good at this sort of thing :/

ahoy there sorry i've been off the radar a bit. i don't happen to be a girl but i can make some adjustments.

i listen to soundgarden quite a bit, occasionally smashing pumpkins, pearl jam a good bit, bit of muse, mostly audioslave, janes addiction, led zeppelin, silverchair a feck load. a lot of other stuff too, metal, stoner music etc etc etc

i been playin for 6 years now and have some pretty good guitars and an only ok amp

    adjustments you say?
    a sex change?
thats going a bit far man

so thats a no go on the operation? thank jebus.

what part of the city are ye thinking of here do you know?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 473 ✭✭corkstudent

Hah it was only a suggestion. There aren't enough girl guitarists. I was watching a Jeff Beck thing and he has this girl bassist that's meant to be really good. Having a trap guitarist might be kind of class though.

Anyway my guitar is ****ed at the moment, if anyone knows someone who'll fix the input jack and maybe give it a quick set up for cheap that'd be great.

As for the band I'm not sure. I think I just want people to jam with for now, maybe record some stuff, see where I go from there. it really sucks that a lot of the bands I'm into people haven't really heard of even though they're not terribly obscure, guess thats Ireland for you these days. I want to do some kinda clangy rock bit like Bauhaus or maybe Joy Division with the kind of warmer edge of 90s alt rock, but I kind of need people who are familiar with the post punk kind of stuff.
