Travel Insurance? Cover Missed Connecting Flight?

    Howdy all...

Right - we missed our connecting Ryanair flight from Gatwich to Dublin at the weekend at no fault of our own.
The flight to Gatwich was delayed almost 3 hours due to a few passengers took ill shortly before take off and had to leave the plane (as well as their luggage )

So we missed our flight and had to get a British Airways flight first thing the next morning.

We had travel insurance (with Ryanair) - does any one know would we be covered with the insurance to reclaim the costs of buying another two tickets to get home with British Airways? And / Or reclaim the cost of the missed ryanair flights?

I basically took the insurance out incase any accidents occured but thankfully everything went well until the trip home?

Thanks in advance if anyone can help if any way as I'm very confused right now

You need to read your policy and contact your vendor for a definitive answer.

Did Ryanair pay for the hotel? What was their solution to the problem?

Ryanair will wash their hands of the problem as they do not do connecting flights.

Also Ryanair will tell you to check your insurance, even though they sell it, it is not their product.

You didn't have a connecting flight. Ryanair only to point-to-point, so I doubt the insurance would cover it.

Point to point is right... i flew with monarch to london and was supposed to fly with ryanair from london to dublin. So both flights were totally seperate companies.

I didnt even contact ryanair or their departure desk as we knew we had missed the flight - we collected our baggage at around 21.30 but our flight with ryanair was a 21.15.

I just contacted the main info desk to see was there any later flights but we were too late for them too...

So we bought two tickets for the next morning with British Airways... So we had a nice sleep on a few benches in the north terminal of Gatwich :D Nice!

I havnt read my policy fully yet, but was looking to find out do I have any hope of using my insurance to claim back any sort of money back?

I would say slim to none to be honest.
