Getting Connected in Halls

So I have my laptop in Halls right now and yesterday I spent an hour scouring the 'NAC Guidebook' for help with establishing a connection but to no avail.

I have a Dell laptop with Windows Vista. I've configured my browser, ensured the cable (which I purchased in the shop in Halls so it should be of a reliable nature) was plugged into the port which ended in "D" and tried both Internet Explorer and Firefox.

My problem is I can't manage to get the NAC Registration/Start-Up page to appear when I start the browser. I just keep getting the usual blank you get when you're missing a connection.

Anyone had these problems/know how to help?

    Cheers.

Do you not need to go to a network clinic anymore?

    That's so 2005.

Not for a year or two now. There's a new SNAC(sp?) system in place. I think it stands for Self network access clinic. Basically a website hosted by isservices that you click through and install the relevant Antivirus etc.
And you no longer have to have XP Pro either, XP home should run fine on the network since the update.
