Best Web cam for Skype?

Hi All,

I am currently looking for a webcam (preferably laptop webcam) for use with skype. It will be used quite a bit to talk to family in Austrailia.

Ideally it should have a good still picture resolution (> 3-4MP)and video quality (> 30 frames per second)

Can anyone recommend a web cam that is good for skype and meets these requirements?

Max budget is approx €50 - €70.

but chat to a friend regularly who has one, so can see and hear the quality.
It's a very very good quality image. expecially compared to my cheap no brand one. Is funny watching my friend because it tracks you if you walk arond the room

shop around for a better prince on those.

One thing to bear in mind quality of any skype communication will be heavilly influanced by the quality of your internet connection. no point in getting a nice web cam if it suffers due to a rubbish broadband connection in which case you'd be just as well of with a cheap camera

+1 for the Logitech QuickCam Sphere AF, Carl Zeiss lens, RightLight & RightSound.

Excellent piece of kit.

If it's just for skype then you don't need anything fancy. Skype supports 320 x 240 at 15 frames per second. I think you can hack a config file to get the resolution up to 640 x 480. Anything above that resolution is a waste.
