    Hi guys,

we're doing a fundraiser and someone suggested screening films and charging people for them. We know this is illegal so we scrapped the idea straight away and kept thinking.

I was just over at the film section and someone mentioned public domain films. Apparently they don't have any copyright or something like that. Would it still be illegal to screen those?

Thanks in advance for any help!

No. If no one holds the copyright to such films, then copyright infringement cannot occur.

If it is to raise money for a good cause, perhaps get in touch with the distributor of the film (the copyrighted one) you intended to show, and ask for their permission.
