i think we should be praying to this guy.

he also claims to have played 3 medium/high live tournaments in Russia since the WSOP, won two of them and came second in a third.

Was watching a pot a little while ago juanda set out to bluff him and basically got caught gifted im the chip lead

If he does the double win WSOP ME + WSOPE , given the size of the fields this would be the biggest achievement in poker history....way more than Hellmuth's 11 bracelets (playing about 100,000 events) IMO.

You misread my post - What I was saying is that doing the double win in the same year would be impressive....I never said that the WSOPE can be compared to the WSOP ME, of course when you have to go through 7,000 players is more difficult....

By the way these 362 are the best of the best, quality-wise this field is much better than the WSOP ME.

    From PokerNews;

Ivan has won 27 of the 115 hands played today -- that's an impressive 23%. What's more, he's won 25 of them without a showdown (93%)! People are indeed starting to talk about the 27-year-old, and the ripples resonating from the splash he's made here this week in London will have no trouble reaching America's East Coast by November.

Maybe they should look at a map of America and see where Vegas actually is.

This is still going. Juanda and Alekhin are heads up for hours.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,956 ✭✭✭CHD

Juanda has got a couple of double ups in last half hour and there level again. This final table is nearly 18 hours old!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭TripleAce

No f**** way - I wake up, come to work, open pokernews.com and they are still playing, after what? 20 hours???

Maybe they should consider adding an extra day next time, I can only imagine how tired these players are at this point!

Those players have to be hanging at this stage, even if there is a deal they will not give up the braclet easily, then again it'll be a shame for the second EME (European Main Event) braclet to be won on a mistake

Live poker has to be 1 of the most boring things to watch, but it has to be done

I wanted Juanda or Negranu to win this so I'm happy. Reason being that I feel it adds credibility to the concept of the WSOPE. I felt there was always the risk of degenerating into just another high stakes series of events and that the world of poker would still look to Vegas as the one and only...

I think you'll see more pro's coming over to this in the future, maybe even to the extent that they won't even bother with Vegas.

I stayed up till 5 o'clock in the morning watching last years final table, I can't stand Jerry Yang, really can't. At least in Europe the hands are fairly quick, in Vegas there was about 5 minutes between every hand stacking chips and stuff. All this while listening to Phil Gordon

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,454 ✭✭✭TripleAce

I really can't get why they don't print some higher-denomination chips for these events, it would speed up the game especially when it gets short-handed.

Big stack ---> nice to see, I suppose

Very difficult to do this when there are ante's in play, afaik the smallest denomination not required is removed.

For example, if the blinds were 30k/60k, there might be a 6k ante, which means that all 1k chips would need to be kept in play

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 6,956 ✭✭✭CHD

They don't want to speed the event up

Damn antes, forgot about them :D

Was it Barry Greenstein who refused to chip up the chips he used as antes? So that at the end of a certain time period he had an idea on how many pots he had won etc?
