    Apparantly there is going to be a fabulous show of the Northern Lights next year, as it happens greatly every 4 (or 8?) years. I have heard it's impossible to measure when exactly but do you think it might hold some truth?

    My brother was inside the Arctic Circle this year in Norway and he saw a tremendos Northern Lights showing. Which source did you read that said there would be a "fabulous" showing next year?

    Word of mouth. Heard it from a guy who goes to Norway a lot. Just wondering if anyone else heard it.

    Don't know about next year, but there's expected to be a record 50 year high in sunspot activity when the next cycle reaches it's peak in 2010-2011, so that'll impact on aurora activity quite significantly. There was a minimum back in early 2006.
