RAM question

    Hey all,

My GF's computer has gotten very slow (not surprising as it's pretty old at this stage). I was just looking around at home and I've found a 1GB stick of RAM which I think may do the trick.

    According to her PC spec http://www.orcalogic.co.uk/asp/prodtype.asp?prodtype=17119&ft=M her laptop takes 200pin SO-DIMM PC2100 (266MHz). The RAM I have lying around is 200pin SO-DIMM PC2700 (333MHz).

Can I still put it in? Is the PC#### rating the max speed it's capable of running at and therefore no problem to put in a faster RAM or is it completely incompatable?
Just want to clarify before putting in and risking it. Any other issues that may arrise?

    Cheers,

    VP

It should be find. The faster ram will be clocked back to 266MHz, to match her current ram. Don't worry about it.
