Im getting excited about it now. i cant wait. i have a few of my wild clutches scoped out although im sure other have the same ones aswell. Im really looking forward to it. I hope its a good cold morning. Im heading out on the crack of dawn on the saturday morning and i hope to be the first out, though we'l all prob be tripping over people. I'l be happy with just the one cock and its going to crown the dog. Im making excuses to 1 or 2 people I hunt with telling them i cant go out with them but the truth is im after putting in so much work into my dog this year that i think i deserve the first day with just myself and the dog. It seems only fair after putting in so much work so it does.

Im going to hunt satuday and sunday, rest on monday and tuesday and then im taking wedsday, thursday and friday off to hunt and rest saturday and head back out again sunday morning.

I have myself bought a new comfy pair of Hunter wellingtons and iv fired my old dunlop steel toe caps out, have a new jacket, new fleece and good pair of hunting trousers all bought aswell. Nothing beats the excitment of the new pheasent season.

have all you lads got yourselves geared up and dogs ready?

seems that way alright whitser. had her out 2 weekends ago and came across a large clutch. she got a nose full of game and she transformed and set a few birds good and steady. even where she set two and they got up she wouldnt give up and bet into cover and rose another.

iv have stuck to my common senses now and realised when it comes to a dog there are three rules, manners, manners and manners! and i have them down to a tee now. iv realised she has to do the hunting herself. i suppose its not different any than a young lad kicking a football they either have the skills or they dont. if they do all you can do is bring them on and give them plenty of work!

We were releasing a batch of adult cocks last Sunday. While driving across a stubble field we flushed a young chick, no more than two weeks old! Must be out of a second clutch.
