To be honest, I don't know. But it would make sense for Dublin Bus to take over the issuing of any pass that includes Dublin Bus travel, thereby including a smartchip in the pass.

What a pity to see those increases....:(

It puts all of the Government PR Puffery concerning Kyoto and Sustainability into stark reflief as when it comes down to ACTIVELY promoting sustainability Central Government reverts to Civil Service mode.

Freezing the TAXSAVER ticket prices at their current level whilst allowing the increase on over the counter sales would have provided a very real incentive for individuals to avail of the TaxSaver scheme.

It would also have increased pressure on those employers refusing to become involved, something which should be mandatory for every employer IMO.

If retail fuel prices continue to recede,we may yet see a situation whereby private car use becomes even more attractive vis a vis Public Transport.

It really is worrying to see the apparrent ease with which a Government can hatch a €400 BILLION bail-out scheme for some highly suspect Banking institutions whilst it cannot see it`s way to promoting or supporting a genuinely public spirited Transport system.... :(

One thing is for sure, the Emporers New Clothes syndrome has never been more visible as it becomes ever more apparent that many of the formerly highly regarded political and financial leaders are little more than clowns !!

Sadly the situation with Irish Rail/Dublin Bus pre-paid ticket issues is now somewhat deadlocked and will continue so until some responsible official decides to excercise that responsibility by DIRECTING Irish Rail to integrate IMMEDIATELY with BAC.

Men, it has been well said, think in herds; it will be seen that they go mad in herds, while they only recover their senses slowly, and one by one.
