Does anyone know of anywhere in Dublin, where you can get the ram in a mac mini upgraded? and a rough idea of price?

I would normally install the ram into a pc myself, but I've seen how complicated it is to install on a Mac Mini and don't really want to take the risk of doing it myself

You know, it's not that tough to install.

The only real issue is jimmying the case open and getting it closed again, but if you have a nice flat spatula it shouldn't be a real problem.

The motherboard will only recognise up to 3gb of RAM, so depending on your current specs you mightn't notice too big a difference in performance.

I also did it myself following some of the photo guides on the internet and it was relatively easy.

I took it very slowly and planned it thouroughly using a number of "how-to" guides to make sure I had no contradicting information as some of the guides were not for the intel mac mini.

Once I upgraded the RAM I then decided to upgrade hard disk... not looked back since !

Thinking of doing this myself also. Are there two slots for RAM? If i'm going to upgrade would like to put in the 3Gb and be done with it.

    Soooo, Do I get a 2Gb and a 1Gb?? Currently running 512Mb

Again locations to purchase same greatly appreciated!

yep, only 2 slots... this is the site I got my memory from.. http://www.memoryc.com/

I believe that the "official" max memory for the mini is 2GB. It can unofficially handle more I think.. would be worth searching the interweb on that..

As I understand it, you can only upgrade it to 2gb with Apple. The chipset supports up to 3gb. It is suggested for performance reasons that you use two sticks of the same capacity, though I don't know how big a difference this makes in practice.

It might be worth upgrading the harddrive while you have it exposed too. As far as I know, it only spins at 5,400rpms, so that's a bit of a bottleneck.
