WD MyBook gone....

I have a WD MyBook 500GB External Drive. Went to open it today and it just pops up "The Disk in drive I: is not formatted, do you want to format it?" Any ideas how to get around this? A lot of stuff on there I want to keep, but not the end of the world if its gone. Its only a year old, so was hoping it would last a bit…

Does't sound good but try downloads Wd diagnostics tool from http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/Western-Digital-Data-Lifeguard-Diagnostics.shtml Good luck
