Garda makeup policy?

Is there a policy on the amount of makeup that female Gardai are allowed to wear. I just walked past a ban Garda on Rathmines Road and she looked more as if she was going out for a night on the town. She was also wearing so much fake tan that she looked like she'd fallen into a can of Cuprinol.

Not that I know off. Maybe there should but then again, why do you care and how did it effect her abilities as a Garda?

i dont think there is a rule regarding it. Think its more of a common sense thing. Im not a guard or a woman so i dont know for sure

It was, imho, very far from a professional image.

I saw a female garda in Navan with bright pink hair last year.
Made me think the same question as the OP.

    then I thought...
    why do you care?

    Was she hot???

The rules state that excessive make up is not allowed. But those rules were made in 1960 or whenever banners were allowed join the cops.

She certainly was (for a ban garda) and quite tall too, which is what caught my attention in the first place.

Now that's something you don't see often. Is there a facial hair rule for the males?

Gyalist, you'll need to get that hair cut you promised first. :pac:

Moustaches only. There was a case about 10 years ago of a garda who had a medical problem with shaving. I think he was assigned a desk job.

It's not compulsory anymore since the Village People.:D

I think that I'll wait until turbans become part of the uniform. If I cut my hair I'll lose my strength.

Just started working in Dun Laoghaire - I've seen some seriously hot bangarda around that town, for whatever reason.

Also seen a chinese policeman for the first time today in the town.

As for the OP's question, of course they can wear as much as they want. Its the same as any other professional role. I've never heard of restrictions on makeup in any job, which is unfortunate. The appearances of some otherwise gorgeous women are ruined when they turn into oompa-loompas at night time.

    Wrong there i'm afraid.
Don't have the code to hand but make-up, jewellery and hair (women are exempt from the facial hair guidelines) must meet certain criteria.

Me, I find if I cleanse, tone and moisturise daily, I can face anything the world throws at me...and one gulp of gaviscon, I can sort out the M50 with a smile. What a feeelin'...

Sideburns to earlobe level; hair at the back of neck to be 2 fingers above collar, and clean cut! When you get your holidays, stop shaving, ye will all look like bums! :p

Oh dont worry I wont even be shaving for my own wedding!

Your in flying form the past few days Deadwood. I have had more than one spontanious guffaw at your posts :D

While it may not have enhanced her beauty I still fail to see how it made her any less professional than it would in any other job nor how it effected her abilities to perform her functions. Its even an advantage in certain careers to have makeup caked on. In fact, it seems very petty in my opinion and I would suggest a hobby for the OP besides 'mule watching'.

This is absolutely hilarious!!! I tell you something, I'm currently in the recruitment process for the guards I bloody well hope no song is made up about me coz I defo do not fit the criteria of a fat ugly ban garda!! As for the whole make up malarkey...I think the girls should be allowed wear what they want once they don't look like a barbie. I think it's nice to see the girls making an effort...there are alot of good looking guys in the force I think it's about time we have some hot ladies!! Least lads might actually listen then!!:D

Pink Star, you really need to address your low self esteem.

The women of the force and indeed the population, will be very grateful to you for single-handedly upping the standard of the aesthetics. Gary Sheehan prize for you.

I hope they don't, like, ohmygod, put you in, like, basically a country station - what a total 'mare and a waste of, like, that face and bod. That'd be sooo unfair, I mean, look at you for gods sake.

Note - the "lads" will still see a guard. Maybe a stunningly beautiful one who, like, could have been a model (insert raised inflection) but thought the guards would be , like, fun for a while, but they'll still see a guard.

You'll end up in the vanity unit.

Wellll firstly Mr. I don't have low self esteem far from it!! But I like how you are being thoughtful and eh some what caring!! :D

Honestly i hope i don't get placed in a country station but to be fair if I did I'd just have to take it on the chin then I suppose I wouldn't have to make an effort therefore I wouldn't wear makeup and maybe fall into the category of the ugly ban garda! But in fairness you have to admit there are a fair few good lookin ladies in it!

Note taken on the "lads" still seeing me as a guard but there are loads of ways to use it as an advantage!!
