Could anybody recommend a good and safe product for cleaning and maintaining leather seats and upholstery. I have had a look in the motorfactors and there are a number of different products but I would like to get some advice from anybody who has experience using leather treatments on their car.

    Thanks.

Autoglym stuff is very good, worked well on mine.

I have Swissol, and it's good, too. Autoglym easier to get your hands on, though.

Just a note: it's a good idea to wipe your seats with WARM water, just a wipe, mind, not a drenching at the start of the process.

Whatever you do, though DON'T be tempted to use detergents, including fairy liquid, soap, etc - this is because some of them contain a lot of salts which will not only do damage to the leather, but also the stitching.

You'd be surprised what a good warm wash will do for them.

Gliptone gentle leather cleaner (spray bottle) followed by liquid leather conditioner is one of the best combo's around. Leave the leather nice and supple with a lovely matt finish.

I heard this stuff is pretty good:

I generally find most Meguiars products to be excellent.

    Hey Nox,

I think I still have a Liquid Leather set (cleaner and conditioner) left out in the shed from when I had a car with leather. Bottles mostly full IIRC. Yours if you want them....

    Thanks for the replys.

@Padraig mor: Thanks for the offer but I think I will just pick up something myself as I have to get some for a friend also.

@galwaytt: Do you know which motorfactors in Galway stock Swissol or Autoglym?

Swissol - not in Galway, I'm afraid - by post from UK.

Autoglym available in the shopping centre accessory shop on Headford Road, and Partway Motor Factors. Probably Calbro too, but the other two definately.
