    Just a heads up...

    http://openpandora.org/

Only 3000 machines are in the first batch then there won't be any more made until 2009.

I never had any of the GamePark machines so I'm looking forward to this.

did you put your name down for a pre-order ? I'm fairly tempted, but I think I'll wait until 2009.

I was watching the forums ... bitter experience with the GP2X taught me the forums on the day of preorder/release are quicker to react than the mailing lists. They started taking orders on the German site from 1400 yesterday, and the UK site from about 1430. I got my notification email (to one of three addresses!) at 1800 ... which was nice.

I placed my order at 1430 ... nice little confirmation message safely tucked away :D

They won't ship until November ... and again, from bitter GP2X experience ... these dates can slip.

I've had the GP32 (FLU and BLU) and also a first edition GP2X. I think there are a few GP2X users lurking here too.
It's hard to explain, until you see & hold one of these machines ... they are great little devices.
Now with the keyboard & battery life ... and wifi ... I can't wait :)

Some excellent vids here for anyone who is interested

Was trying to look at the price on that website but the it's getting hammered. Getting a too many connections error. Must be popular :)

The Pandora itself is 249 Euro ... I think it's well worth it, for what you get. :)

Edit - See prices on the German website -> http://www.gp2x.de/shop/index.php/cPath/34

I gues all the sites were hammered for the first few hours of pre-orders.

Things seem to have settled down, and the sites are active right now.
From reading the latest posts ... it looks like they have enough orders to extend the production run to 4000 units.
    October 2nd News

We will continue to accept Pandora orders for the first batch until SUNDAY - we will increase the first batch manufactured to match these orders.

After that it will be from the second batch in 2009.

We recommend you order as soon as possible as we must start production next week.

We are also answering as many emails as we can, but if possible can you check the new forum we have set up (see blog) as the old forum is still dead from being overloaded.

    October 1st News

Well, wow, you guys killed our servers in a spectacular frenzy of preordering.

The forums are still dead at the time of writing. There is no doubt that once things calm down and everyone is able to place the final orders we will have sold out of the 3000.

We sold 2000 Pandoras in 6 hours even with the server totally besieged. Truly astonishing. Thank you all for supporting this project, all the emails, all the comments all, all the phone calls, all the news posts, everything.

Today we moved to a somewhat faster server which is why things were off line during this afternoon.

We are quickly looking in to if it is possible to increase our planned first batch to 4000 units.

We will update on this issue in around 48 hours.

    -Craig

That's great news. Glad it's proving popular.

Also glad I got my preorder in before the rush.

Do it. Do it now. It's only money.

A Pandora will get you through times of no money waaaay better than money will get you through times of no Pandora.
