    Hi guys,

I recently bought myself a Gateway-laptop in America, but now when I got home I discovered that the american plug doesnt match the travel-adapter-converter that I have for american types. Instead the plug has three pins, like this picture:

(What is the third round shaped pin for anways?)

Well that looks like a Chinese plug, i have one on my laptop charger (bought off ebay from China.), i just got a generic adapter from a shop and it worked fine. Most travel adapters have that third cylindrical hole in them, well at least the ones i have do.

Cut the plug off and connect a 3 pin plug to it, problem solved.

Chinese plug, hmm thats weird. It was actually purchased in Best Buy. What shop should I go to then here in Dublin for adapters/converters?
    Im not from here. :)
Though I would prefer it to have an Irish cable that I can just plug in to the AC adapter, instead of a travel converter.

Hmmmm, could be wrong with that whole chinese thing! Just looked weird and came from china so i figured mine must be from China!
Oh, and i just bought my travel adapter in the local tesco i think, it's just a generic multi adapter.

Looks like a standard American three pn plug if I'm looking at the same picture. (round pin is earth).

Provided the charger is 110 - 220 V a standard holiday adapter should do.

    Thanks for the replies.
I went over to Maplin in Blanchardstown and found myself a 3-pin cable for my AC adapter instead.

    Works like a charm! :)
