How can I add folders of music to my PS3?

Ok I tried copying my music library over to my PS3 and the results where abysmal. I have my music categorized in folders like "A-E", "F-J"... etc

But when I copied them over my folder structure was completely removed. Instead I had all the mp3 as individual files and the only way I could sort them was via the basic sorting options on the PS3.

Is there any way to copy over my music files and have them retain their folder structure?

Maybe if you remove the drive and hook it up to a pc using a usb to sata converter you could add your music that way. Doubtful but might be worth a shot.

    www.TVersity.com

If you have a wireless setup for the internet and decent connection go to the above link download the software and you now have a live media centre for your PS3. You point the TVersity towards folders. The PS3 picks up TVersity and you can copy the folders direct.

The XMB within the playstation is awful for catagorising your music. The only way it will let you do it is Album, Artist, Date Added etc. They really really need to address this in a firmware update.

yeah I use TVersity. But I'd rather have the music on my PS3 so I don't have to have my PC on to access it. Plus I upgraded the PS3 HDD to 320GB's so I have the space. It's just the sorting of files is horrible. There's no real option to allow for a folder hierarchy.

Use the copy fucnction on your PS3 thats what I have done. It copies them as is. On the folder press triangle and its gives you the option to copy to the HDD.

That still doesn't fix the problem. The way the PS3 displays your music is a mess as it doesn't use a decent folder system.

ps3 sorts by the tags on your mp3s.
Album, Artist, Genre, Year and i think that's it.

As Kintaro says, it's a right pain in the hole. Well, he doesn't say that; i'm paraphrasing. :D
