I'm trying to create an arch shape in a wall opening. I was told to get an arching kit.

Has anyone ever heard of these ?

Yes its a kit for making an arch!

It depends on the arch really.

Metal lath are available for creating false arch in plasterwork / stud walls.
(It should be easy to make one, using a cardboard template, out of metal lath and wire.)

An Englist brick manufacturer will factory make external brick arches, to order, to match their brick.

Most steel lintol companies manufacture arched lintols for masonry walls.

Depending on the type of wall, it's also possible to create an arch using polystyrene.
