Just played south county golf club in brittas there last week. Have to say i was very impressed with the overall course and layout, tough it needs to mature a bit. Very cheap to play considering other courses in dublin are 2 or 3 times the price and not half as good. 30 euro midweek and even cheaper on tee times, i think 18 euro midweek. Does anyone know how much it is to join, cause i belive its in a bit of financial trouble. Are they open to offers, say from a group of 5 or 6 poeple, to join at the same time. Anyone a member and whats overall feel in the club? etc

    Cheers

I think there's a deal going at the moment where it's approx 6k to join.

Also, a word to the wise, the forum is ideal for subjective stuff like course quality etc but for the facts on joining fees etc you'd be much better off just ringing up and getting the details. There's a lot of incorrect/out of date info on lots of clubs joining fees posted as fact here.

South County offer a lot of different types of memberships. You can check out at southcountygolf.ie/membership
I think the fees are approx 6k for membership. There are also deals for share membership. They are also offering an annual membership for 1600.
The rumours about us being in finanicial difficulty is tiresome at this stage but I suppose a rumour is half around the world before the truth gets out of bed

SS - Just curious, what's the deal with 150 Kilternan members swapping across? Is it a sister club or are they closing up?

€1600???? That's not far from Celbridge is it?

Kilternan used play out of the Kilternan Hotel but due to redevelopment they left. They have been playing in South County for the past year. I drive through Celbridge on my way to the South County. It takes about 15min

The annual €1600 sounds like a good deal to me...

Is only up the road from me as living in Balinteer...

What are the practice grounds like? I want to join a course with a good pratice ground thats my only problem with City West well that and the lack of a club feel.

It does seem highly rated, good facilities, good atmosphere - feedback is friendly and nobody has come into the thread knocking the place so who do I make the cheque of €1,600 payable to?

Probably not taking membership in January if it's that nice a track... :(

Probably best to go have a knockabout on it, can't play in any opens until I rejoin and get back my handicap and then take it from there. It hadn't even registered on the radar yet even though it is within the "20 minute proximity rule to home" - just shows how good my research has been!

    Thanks for the details .....
