Like Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman in that god awful film Far & Away, people are talking about leaving the country to find greener pastures. Personally I think everything is going to be ok and we will be slurping down overpriced pints in snotty bars faster than ever by 2010.

But..... Where would you go if you had a clean slate? I think if my work went belly up I would head for Dubai or Australia. Perhaps Germany to become a popstar.

is there any booming economies anyore? Would you just go for the beer / chicks / willies?

Take my severance pay and buy myself a nice estate out in China.

Then I could sit out on my veranda and enjoy it for 15 minutes before they nationalised it / built a dam on it.

Dubai is a crap country, dunno why anyone would want to go there to live, to holiday maybe but how could you live there ? They're a backward inbred people with stupid religious ideals and treat women as second class, if even they give them that much respect these days.

Australia for me, sometime next year hopefully when all my current loans are paid off.

New York - more bars/clubs/restaurants than you can spend the rest of your life trying to find, great music, never bored, the whole world lives there so you always have some gobsheen to knock a bit of craic out of in the local bar, and canada's just up the road if this meltdown f**ks the whole lot up, Montreal's my number 2!

Canada for me as well I'd say...somewhere in the northwest. The likes of forrestry work or mining combined with a bit of moose hunting and fishing would be the ticket. I'd move tomorrow, herself wouldn't be to keen I'm afraid.

Fab spot but have you lived and worked in either? The money's far better in NY, but it's sooo chilled out in Montreal.
