iTunes 8 is no longer my default player

    Hi folks
    For some reason iTunes 8.0.0.35 is no longer my default player. I always accept the message about wanting iTunes to be the default player (itunes has detected that it is not the default player for audio files - do you want to make it the default player etc.) but then I get a fatal error that indicates that I do not have permission to switch it to be my default player - (an error occurred while updating the default player for audio file types - You do not have enough access privileges for this operation)
    Does anyone else have this problem - I have tried everything to fix it but to no avail
    Any help would be greatly appreciated

    What happnened before this? Did you install anything else? What is coming up as your default now?

    Try right click on a song and scoll down to open with, then scroll to choose default programme. Select itunes here and hopefully that'll do it

    Thanks all for your help - when the new itunes came out I updated and the problem resolved itself
