Fitting and comfort are incredibly important factors. So you need to visit a shop to understand which pair are the right fit (and potentially also have a gait analysis performed).

I've worn Asics Kinsei I for a couple of years, and now that they are no longer on sale here (replaced by Kinsei II - which I don't like), I still buy the Asics Kinsei I on eBay from the US. It's the only place I can find them, and they're also much cheaper (90 euro instead of 160 euro). But like I said, I know exactly what brand/series/size I want. I also keep going back to the same seller, as I know their goos aren't fake (a genuine risk).

Id agree with the above post but if you know what you want try www.bournesports.com or www.footlocker.com. Or again if you rather an old model runner like the above poster the factory shops in Ireland are normally cheap,ie.Nike Factory, sportsworld and others.

Be cautious of getting stung for duty when importing shoes from outside EU. I bought two pairs from a retailer in USA, and was presented with a bill for the duty charges by the postman when delivering. It pretty much negated the savings I was making on it.

Ways around it though (not that I would condone such behaviour!).

I've gone over to the UK to buy runners even in the "box shifters" places they are more expensive than over here, think you would get them cheaper here if you shopped around rather than bourne sports.

I went to the states where they are cheaper by some distance. The same shoe here is the same price in dollars over there so even with Duty you should make a few euro savings.

runireland have started to sell running shoes online, if you know what size you are looking for. Otherwise you would have to get your gait checked properly in a shop before buying.

Why is it always asics web sites sell cheap?
few quid cheaper than RRP but 1130,2130,nimbus and kayano......
More and more people changing from asics in the last year.
Other brand that I am starting to see more are Mizuno,Brooks,Adidas,
    Nike,Saucony ect
I would say atleast 70% of users on these boards have never tried another brand other than Asics....

Reasons why I use asics are that they're more readily available in your average sports shop and without going for a gait analysis I know more about which asics runners work for me as I know more about them. I like new balance runners too. I keep putting off going for a proper gait analysis.

Has anyone had a gait analysis done in runways?

Not sure if they are still doing the Gait Analysis in Runways I was in there last Saturday and no customer was getting it done. Maybe they don't offer it on Saturdays.

that kevin fellow no longer works in runways. he used to be very good. new man in there not very helpful (if my experience last week was anything to go by), hope it is not a sign of things to come as it was a good place for athletes to get athletic stuff

I was in Runways 3/4 weeks ago and got a gait analysis done. Didn't buy anything in the end, the guy in the shop was really nice (he's allergic to any distance over 400m!).

A buddy of mine is doing some study in the States so I'm going to check some Us sites and get him to bring back a pair or two for me this evening...

How often should you change shoes?
Bought a pair of Asics mid range shoes in Feb and run 3/4 times a week - shortish distances -5k- on road, dirt tracks etc.
    Time for new ones??

Anyone recommend a good shop for shoes in Limerick or Ennis?

Head into Arnotts sale and stock up for the year, they have all asics and brooks with up to 50% off.
Normal sizes (UK9-11) are usually gone within a few hours so unless you have tiny/banana feet get in there early and be prepared to fight cos its fooking MAYHEM

If you know your size try achillesheel.co.uk (Sorry about the shortcut). They are far cheaper than Ireland
