I'm quoting this from the failed engineering thread:
    Brods wrote:
Ive been told that if you fail first year medicine that you can't repeat the year, ie you get one shot at medicine and thats all... is this true? In this case would the senior tutor etc be more likely to grant you supper supps? Seems extremely harsh...

Thanks Brods, looking out for us meds :p

But seriously, the results to supplementals was published in the school of medicne office a few days ago. 10 people failed at least one subject, and all but one person has the word 'Exclude' beside it. I've heard that peoples' tutors are saying that this means that you can't even repet the year. ie, you've failed and now they want you to gtfo of college.

Any opinions or suggestions for failed meds?

I heard that you can repeat the year if you fail, just have to pay for the year yourself. I'll ask my tutor tomorrow about that.

    no

if having a doctor who struggled to pass is a problem then the college needs to learn to administer tests correctly.

It's 50% just to pass, and plus most of the stuff you do, in first year at least, will never be used in a hospital.

Also, almost everyone who failed got between 45% and 50%, which means that if they did any other course, they would have passed.

Well then they would have done one year twice so would be a better doctor;)

Id imagine whats done in first year has little relevance to actually working as a doctor. loads of people fail exams, everyone deserves asecond chance including meds!
