    Its the successor to the FZ18, which DPReview was lukewarm enough about, but in my experience people either love or hate these bridge models. Pricewise you are getting close enough to a DSLR (secondhand or one of the older models) though without the zoom range.

    It would probably be worth your while having a good poke through the pany forum on DPReview, and also doing a search on flickr for photos from the camera, and see what you think yourself.

    Funny, I was looking at this camera too on iBOOD, but alas, they've sold out now.

    Still though, I'm keen on getting a bridge camera (full-on SLR wouldn't be practical for me atm), and this one seemingly is one of the better ones.

    It is either this or the Sony H50 or Fuji S8100fd or Nikon P80.

    The Panny also seems to have the ability to record 720p video (mono audio), and has Raw mode.

    Can't find anywhere to match the price of the Panny anywhere else though. I'd like a camera that doesnt' take ages to fire up and then ages between snaps.

    Currently have an Olympus SF-310 which is as slow as a wet week.
