problem with hot press slats

The slats across my hot press have all come loose. There is some sort of green stuff as if it was stuck on. What is that called and where do I get it?

I fixed the ones underneath with super glue but don't know if it will last and could it be the heat in the press that ruins whatever sticks them?

    Thanks

Cascamite wood glue would be a cheaper option than locktite. Or a standard wood glue/pva would also do the job, maybe a panel pin to hold them in place.
