    2nd October...

Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced the availability of a playable demo of its forthcoming PES 2009 title for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360 and PC on 2nd October.

Due for release on 17th October, PES 2009 marks the triumphant return of what is regarded as the most realistic football title for any format. Users will be treated to an expansive playable demo of the new title, with the bespoke version offering a full five-minute Exhibition multiplayer match.

Players will be able to select fully licensed Manchester United, Liverpool, Real Madrid, and Barcelona club teams, or the licensed Italian or French national sides. The demo will allow users an early taste of the all-new elements set to further bolster PES 2009’s reputation as the definitive football game. All new visuals with completely remodeled players and animations, and new physics routines to ensure the ball behaves more realistically have been included, while the AI of the CPU sides has been enhanced to provide an ever evolving challenge.

The PES 2009 demo will also include promotional videos detailing the new game’s ‘Become a Legend’ and online ‘Legends’ modes, which see the player controlling just one player within a team and attempting to forge a career in football. Starting as a promising 17-year-old, players must force their way into the first team and produce a series of blistering performances which will ultimately result to a move to one of Europe’s biggest sides. Or, on the flipside, poor performances can see a player struggling in the lower leagues and eventually being released…

It needs to be the best demo ever if it is to prevent me buying FIFA on Friday.

I am still going to wait for reviews for both games before I decide on which game to buy. The demo won't convince me either way, though it (hopefully) will at least put my fears regarding the framerate and graphics to bed.

Only time will tell. It certainly is 100% better than last years version according to the play testers.

Another positive review coming in for PES 2009, this time courtesy of OPM. They gave it a 9/10 and the general consensus, like most reviews that have filtered through, is that it’s what last year’s game should have been.

    Things OPM loved:
-They were able to play free flowing football again, creating some lovely moves.
-Champions League Mode, and the satisfaction it brings when you win it with a smaller club.
    -Fantastic Edit Mode
    -Stadiums, in particular, Wembley.

They didn’t like the menus so much, but I don’t think people will mind considering that was the only thing that cropped up on their “OPM hates” section. (Also, am I the only one who doesn’t mind them? They’re a huge step up from PES 2008)

Seabass doesn't seem as apologetic as last year which for me is the best sign.

Hopefully I can agree with all of that. Time will tell.

The same magazine gave last years game 9 out of 10 so I'll wait for the demo, hopefully it is a big improvement on last year and the additions look very good

I think im the only person on the net that actually enjoyed pes 2008! Well besides the lag online.. I thought the offline was fine and the gameplay was still a million times better then FIFA which is boring and slow imo. If they just sorted out the online lag for pes 09 then ill be happy.

Em, the keepers? They were awful, other than that I agree, I've never really played online anyway, even a millisecond of lag ruins it so i never bothered.

Been playing the Fifa demo alot last 2 weeks, Im very impressed... Been playin and loving PES for last couple of years, and liked PES08 on ps2 not so much on PS3(i expected alot more).

Im gonna buy the fifa game as their whole 10V10 online sounds like a buzz, fancy myself as a defensive mid... plus the EA live gig sounds good, if Adebayor is injured this weekend, it will show in the game, perfect!

Naturally will trade in Fifa for Pro evo when its out, but depending on how much I enjoy fifa i might keep both!

May the best game win!!! :p
