Asking to be paid weekly instead of monthly

I am currently being paid monthly, and to be honest it is a pain in the back side! I am thinking about asking the boss if i can be paid weekly or fortnightly. Has anyone tried this before, and did it pay off? (No pun intended)

I don't think you'll have any luck. Fiddling with the company payroll run to suit specific employees would be far too much hassle. There was a long thread (argument) about pay periods a while back and a lot of the posts would have pointed out that it's not the employers responsibility to help the employee to manage their personal finances.

Personally, I'd rather get pai bi-monthly. But you soon learn to Manage your Salary!

If your employer has more than ten employees and has ever even heard of a computer, chances are he uses some form of payroll software for managing payroll. Once a month, someone presses the "run payroll" button which does all the caculations and outputs payslips and the like. In general, running it for one employee is a lot of hassle and often costs a good deal of money to configure the software to do it, so he probably won't do it.

That's what I like about getting paid monthly, I'm crap with money so I have all my direct debits set to come out a few days after I get paid, it makes budgeting a lot easier.

OP, most service providers / banks can easily change the date for direct debits and standing orders, just give them a call.

Other option to to learn how to manage your money better, easier said than done in my case.

    Paid monthy ftw!
You pay rent monthy, gym fees monthly, ESB and NTL every two months, etc
Pay your bills the first week you get paid, that way they are paid and you know what you have left.

Your employer will laugh at you if you ask to go weekly. It's either weekly for everyone or for noone, it just gets messy otherwise. The only to change to weekly is get everyone to agree, but I doubt your employer will change, not their fault you can't manage your money.

You need to budget better OP, most people can manage, good luck :)
