repairing a compact camera

I have a fujilim A920 which seems to have a problem with the power supply. Before the problem with the power the buttons were preforming functions different to what they ought to do, e/g the playback button malfunctioned and the on/off switch doesn't work either, and perphaps would need re programing. I opened the back of the camera to have a look at it but now my warranty is defunct, even though the camera stopped working after only 2 weeks of purchase (and no i didn't realise it would affect my warranty but i was doing voluntary work and wanted my camera working again :)).

Fujiilm seem to have a standard charge of 114eur for a repair/ vat/ postage (the camera cost 130eur), so I was wondering if it could be done cheaper/ if it was worth my while to get fixed elsewhere.

would I be able to ge it fixed for a more reasonable price or is it worth my while? Sarah

Its usually more expensive to repair a compact than it is to replace, unfortuantely.
