got our first brush of the season on sunday. went up to a farm thats lost some ducks recently. i knew where we'd find charlie cos almost every time i hunt this bog we flush a red lad.
plan was for me and hounds to start at one end and my mate to stay at the other end of this long narrow bog and block any escape. velvet found in no time an we got a great view of her crying after the fox who was a matter of feet ahead of her. the others joined in and the fox gave them a good hunt through some very thick cover. he was very reluctant to break cover but when he did the hounds were tight on him. he ran to ground up on a hill a few fields away, where he was accounted for. a good sized healthy vixen, that wont be lunching on any more free range ducks.

Well done. We are heading out next Sunday for our first day with the pack, i'd be a gun around the cover.... hows the scent must be coming on now but would be better when it gets colder i think.

We are just back from a shoot. Bagged one tail but, *cough* the buddy, missed two others... :D

it'll get better as weather turns as it seems to be doing now.

shot my first fox of this season over the pack which are quite young but went well, pushed a few bucks and doe's, it was a good day but with a result of just two fox's.

good stuff. grand day for hunting yesterday, tad bit warm, though its getting colder. we'd no kill yesterday but got some nice hunting. got a fantastic few of a fox on top of a hill with nowt behind him only sunny sky, we were at bottom of the hill looking up, so we could only see a dark silloete against the sun, nice.
