Alrighty, I've figured that I put it off too long to get Romero's trilogy on DVD, having had them on VHS. I just ordered the 2 disc special editions of both Dawn and Day, but I'm a little at a loss as to what's the best version of Night.

I was thinking this one, but reading up it's supposedly not a 2 disc at all. So what's the best version available on R2?

    www.dvdcompare.net

Thats a very handy website for checking what the best version of a DVD is.

Do be careful with NOTLD....I bought a version of it (in a black metal case) and it was cut:eek: I could'nt believe it.

Aye, seems the Contender edition is cut. Nasty. Should be grand with any of the other versions then.

Just wait for the blu-ray. DVD is a dead format.

Too late. I went for this one after reading a lot of reviews on amazon.

Besides, less than €3 including shipping, can't complain about that. ;)

As long as you don't get this one, you should be ok ;)

Problem with public domain releases is that there are always plenty of versions, usually from pretty cheap distributors. Can be a bit confusing to get the 'proper' version. Plan 9 is another one that has a load of different releases, although none of them are 'proper' considering the film in question.

Well, if it's not dead, it's certainly dying.

As a big movie fan, I can't really see the sense in shelling out money for DVDs (even now when their prices are in freefall) when I know that I'm just going to end up buying them on blu-ray (or digital HD download, or whatever format takes hold) in a year or two.

The gulf in quality is too noticeable between DVDs and high-definition content, and this is doubly true for action, horror and sci-fi movies. I know I'll be rebuying all my favourites in high-def, so I'm trying to limit my purchase of standard def content as much as I can!

I know I'm a little late for a recommendation, but this is the version I have. Two disks, comes in a metal tin.

I saw it in Zavi the other day on blu ray. Now I'm all for blu rays, but is there really much they could've done with a film from the 60s? Even the Predator I got on blu ray wasn't fantastic quality compared to later films.

Well at the moment, I don't have a Bluray player. Maybe I'll get one at Christmas, but right now I'm just not too concerned about it.

I have this one and I didn't like it. They went back and re-shot some scene's to put in the original movie for the aniversary, I thought it took away from the original.
