Breast cancer is known to be most common in Woman. It is very rarely heard of in men, but that doesn't mean it doesn't happen at all.

We are all aware that woman are very good at checking themselves for lumps and bumps in the breast but do you guys do it? do you check your breasts? Do you know WHAT you are looking for??

All the time. I recently found a lumb on each moob. It was hidden under the rolls of fat. They're very sensitive to touch and have some hairs growing round them. Kind of gross. Wouldn't want a doctor to witness it to be honest.

well at least you do check them. I have a few male friends who dont, and never thought about it. But you really should get them looked into. I mean, thats what the docs are there for! ;)

Less than 1% of breast cancer cases are men. Not saying its not worth getting a lump checked out, but better to get lads checking their balls first before we worry about the fringe cancers. Stress can cause cancer too after all!

It may be uncommon but it still happens and if theres a way of checking for a cancer thats quick, easy and painless are we not better to encourage it :)

Sure make it a ritual, ball and moob grope once a fortnight ;)

One cancer at a time though! The figures for lads checking for testicular cancer (did you know 100% of testicular cancer patients are men?) is piss poor, lets get that sorted first. Actually that reminds me I should probably check now...

Ladies and gentlemen we will now take a brief intermission from this thread to allow for a unscheduled impromptu testicular check. If you'd all like to take your positions...

    Normal service will resume shortly.

    I could be a while......

Actually I know a guy got a small breast tumour at the age of 35. They got it out along with some lymph glands to be sure. He's OK now. The doctors told him that in men they usually catch it very early as it's so obvious. Especially in this guy as he's quite thin.

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

LOL I wouldn't inflict my hard, calloused, lifters' hands on all you fine folks' sensitive man-bits!!

I was actually only thinking about that when reading the forum today but didn't bring it up because it's such an un-PC thing to say, but if there was an option for guys to have their 'nads checked by a woman (hot prefereably, of course) would guys avail of the service? And more importantly would guys who otherwise don't check have it done?

Or is that still a sign of weakness or make a man feel vulnerable and somehow less 'manly'?

I think that's a decision we should be allowed make for ourselves. ;)

I don't think it would be considered less manly to have a woman check you, and there's no doubt that it would encourage a lot of guys to have regular checks, but I do think it could lead to a lot of frustration for loads of guys. :)

Nuttin' wrong with lifter hands. ;) Anyways definitely would not feel less manly* but wouldn't there be the near guaranteed chance of a hard on? Imagine that could cause embarassment, or we might start to hear porno music in our heads. Otherwise I think its an excellent idea, because just about everyone who replied to the do you check thread said they didn't know how. On one level it doesn't seem that difficult, but there are probably subtle little things that need to be checked that could be easily overlooked.

*How could having a hot lady handling your man bits feel unmanly in fairness?

I had a female nurse check me. Albeit it, it was only my moobs. :(

I check both occasionally. Testicular cancer is said to be more common in younger men who have many partners, so that rules me out (on both counts :)).

Now, what about the examination for enlarged prostate?

Just make sure whoever s checking your prostate doesn't have both their hands on your shoulders.....

Now now don't be going creating a cancer scare. Besides sideburn cancer is the real killer!

I'd be more likely to check out my moobs if they weren't so hairy...

Actually, it never occurred to me to check my moobs until a couple days ago when I saw this thread, eventhough I knew that men have all the same "plumbing" to produce milk as women do. Obviously it's not developed because of our lack of Oestrogen and other hormones but guys can lactate! http://www.madsci.org/posts/archives/2005-07/1121456585.An.r.html

And coincidentally, there was an episode of Scrubs shown on that day (don't know what episode nor what channel) where a male patient got diagnosed with breast cancer. He felt ashamed and wouldn't let his family know. I think this was a stupid reaction even for that show. I know it's a comedy, and "drama" sometimes, but if I'd ever get moobs cancer feeling ashamed would be last of my worries.

I do obviously check downstairs regularly ... may be too regularly :p
