    Hi Everyone,

My name is Wayne and I will be running a New card Room due to open in Tallaght in four weeks.

Before we open our doors to the Dublin Poker community we would like to hear from you the players as to what you think makes a good card room sometimes it can be the little differences which make for a great night out.

We would welcome input in all matters e.g tournament times, starting stacks, prize pools, rules....... whatever you think helps to improve the customer experience.

We aim to be a professionally run, but friendly Card room With your help we hope we can be a welcome addition to the Poker scene in Dublin.

Loads and loads of chips with a slow clock and a huge prizepool that wont go on all night, loads of fish in the cash games but no drunks slowing the games down.

If you solve that one you will get every player in Dublin.

    Hi there,
Welcome to boards. I dont play in Dublin much, but the majority of this forum does. Friendliness and transparency are probably the two most important factors in running a card club.

    Good luck with your venture

    Connie

IMO the one key factor to success here is attracting new players... the existing poker community is already well spread out between all the wonderful and not wonderful card rooms already here....

Attract new players and you'll automatically attract existing players....

how to do it is up to you... gl with the venture..

btw I've been in your place and it has a lot of potential

Half your post seems like you are not involved in the club, the other half seems like you are definitely involved. Which is it?

Look after your players; try to address their concerns (within reason).

Make sure all your dealings are transparant & fair.

Guaranteed prize pools are a good way to build up tourney numbers.

Decent food & drinks should be provided; this has been the undoing of at least one of the major establishments in the past.

Friendly staff & dealers; remember there is lots of competition now for poker players business; only the best quality establishments will thrive.

Take for example the efforts of your neighbour, Ross, in 'The Poker Room'; 110% prize pools, low reg fees, free food drink & beer, free tourney sats to upcoming events, bad beat prizes of a Porche and a 50" plazma screen. This is a guy who listens to players and goes the extra yard.

Whatever level you choose to pitch at the very best of luck & I will pop along when you open. :D

Website to post results of tournies, photo of winner etc, too few td's do this.
Also it would be nice to jump on a website to see what game is on, on a given night.
