Most karaoke software that takes its audio tracks from standard music files are a horrible mess. They work on the assumption that the vocal track is always to be found in the same place in the track, and just turn the volume down on that so you can sing. It's also highly unlikely that Lips will have lyrics and note charts for any songs that you're taking from your MP3 player.

Lips will live or die on the catalogue and pricing of its online store. The SingStore already has a huge catalogue of karaoke classics, and they're priced sensibly. There is only a trickle of releases (fortnightly), but due only to the fact that it's been on the market for so long, it has an impressive library. Lips has a lot of catching up to do!

Could be make or break the importing your own music. If its succesfull, it could overtake Sing Star in the singing game competition. If it fails, Sing Star will hold onto its crown.
