[RUMOR] New MacBook Pro spyshot

Apple has confirmed a special event for October 13. However, where this takes place is unknown as of the moment although I assume it to take place in their headquarters. We know that new MacBooks are in the works, maybe they are doing a revamp of the entire MacBook line. I'm not sure. Anyways.

A french blog apparently, somehow, somewhere, has gotten its hand on what could be a leaked photo of the new MacBook Pro.

The most notable things in this picture are first its quality. This one here is stretched so there already is quality loss. Also, it appears to be taken with a first-gen iPhone.

Also, it is notable that there appears to be a Dock below or even inside the touchpad. If true, this would be consistent with an patent Apple filed concerning non-keyboard based input methods. How this is achieved is a different cup of tea - it would mean that there is another LCD screen with, I'm guessing, Multi-Touch glass installed. This would also require battery power, and conduits sending Multi-Touch events from the Touch-Dock to the OS.

On lesser important side of things the optical drive is in front here, not on the side.

Gizmodo has claimed this photo to have multiple vanishing points, and assumes it to be a fake. However, it is possible that with certain lenses, like in the iPhone, objects can indeed have multiple vanishing points.

Apart from that it appears to have taken in design from the MacBook Air. Look at the bottom of what is claimed to be the new MBP.

I don't know... I didn't really believe the "Kevin Rose" nano, but then it became a reality (and I find the new nano pretty stunning). I am not saying it's fake - neither am I saying it's real.

To me, it seems to be an authentic photo... what do you think?

Well the person in the picture isn't taking the picture above. In the picture above the camera is level with the desk the macbook is on, yet the person in the picture is holding the camera a good bit higher so would be looking down at the macbook at an angle.

If that's meant to be the dock in the touchpad (or the touchscreen replacement for the touchpad) then that's a disaster. People are trained to type without taking their eyes of the screen. Having to move your eyes off the screen to look at the touchpad just to change an application or whatever is just stupid especially given how far away from the screen the touchpad actually is.

Style wise it's a disaster as well. A macbook pro with a aluminium top, white sides, aluminium cd bezel and black screen sounds like a nightmare to a mac fan then something they'd happily have sex with. For that reason alone I'd say it's a fake.

Somebody needs a few more lessons in photoshop....

It's not just the vanishing points that are off. Take a close look at the sides of the optical drive.
