    Haile Gebresselassie re-wrote marathon history this morning by becoming the first man to run sub 2:04 in Berlin.

    Its a phenomenal performance, surely he must be older than V35!!. Well done also to some Irish guys who ran well in it - Owen Gahan ran 2.30, Rory Byrne 2.37, and a few more reliables sub 2.50...

    have to say i'm inspired... i ran 4 X 800m this week in just under 4 mins...


    That is some amazing run, mates of mine were in the race... I should have gone over and run, to be in a histoic race like this would be worth the fair.....

    To put it in terms that people who know nothing about running race paces might understand, it's speed 20.4 on a treadmill.....for 2.03.59.

    A lot of treadmills only go up to 16, many just up to 20. I challenge anyone to go on a treadmill, put the speed to 20.4, jump on and see how long you last. (If you fall off, please don't blame me :p). I think I might manage 3 minutes but I'd have to dig really, really deep.

    I would manage 1 mins at that, maybe 70-75 seconds.... its nuts my PC for 800 was a shade over 2 mins.. that was all out.. would never have been able to do 2 X 800 in 2.21 each... its crazy speed.,
