Does anyone know the solution to this? I've got the TV hooked up to the laptop (sound and all, thanks cush) but when I close the lid not only does it shut off my laptop screen it shuts off the HDMI feed as well. Im at a loss  I want my lid shut and my HDMI on.

Is there not a function key on the keyboard (not sure which laptop you have), on my dell it's labeled "CRT/LCD" that will switch off the screen when connected to an external monitor. I know you've probably checked this but, that's the first thing that came to my mind.

Strart > Settings > Control Panel > Power Options > Advanced Tab

Under the option to select what to do when the lid is closed on your laptop, select "Do Nothing"
