Saw the sun rising this morning on the way to Bristol. Grabbed my camera and got these...

I didn't think of sitting forward of the wing. But then I've been told that sunrise/sunsets should ideally have some object in them.

Decided to use the wing in this shot...

One tip I will pass on - if you're flying out from Dublin in the early morning sit on the left side of the plane and you may see a fab sunrise.

I thought electronic stuff like cameras is not allowed during flights? or are cameras allowed between taking off and landing?

Electronic equipment (including cameras) is allowed when at cruising altitude as long as the seat belt sign is off. This is the second time I got my camera out during a flight recently - the last time the flight attendants even mentioned it in their landing preparation speech. They normally mention seat backs in upright position, arm rests down and trays in the upright locked position - last time they added "digital cameras switched off", fame at last.

As you can probably tell - I fly lots. I know the script for all the announcements.

    Nice shots!

Got a great one of the Aussie outback while flying into Sydney...see if I can dig it out.

Also, guy in work got a picture of the Alps coming through the clouds from a plane. It's a great picture and a lucky one too, as the guy isn't into photography at all!

I'll ask him for that one too!

    :)

PS: I thought you guys have your cameras attached to you at all times like umbilical cords!?

Flying to Spain on Saturday - will have camera firmly strapped to my neck. Hopefully get some more shots - will sit forward of the wing this time, it's daytime flight so don't want the wing in the way.

Good shots ............ at least you were flying on a jet. Unlike the puddle hopper to the Isle of Man
