Yes it's been to long now, and it's still the same, every weekend the amount of litter that is thrown around the site, and the car park, could every one please use the bins at the sites, as it is bad enough the amount of bb's we use every week with out having to leave other litter behind us, as there is notting more to give us a bad name, if this is the way we carry on, so if you have litter please put it in a bin all us sites have them, and if you see some one tell them the same, please put it in a bin, as i am planing some trips to MOD sites in england next year, this the one that will get us a bad name and if this the case i will not be apart of it, my motto is that if i get an invite to some were i all ways leave the place better than i found it, and it is bad enough ireland has a reputation for been the worst country for litter in the EU, so lets all make a start as we mine to go on.

PLEASE PUT ALL LITTER IN A BIN.

I dont think this tread should be made in to a chit chat. I personally put everything back in bag or in pockets.
And c-mon lads you play at site you have fun. And in the evening at home you tell everyone how good crack it was.
But the site owner stays behind and cleans after you. ( There was a man on other tread talking about Owners getting money and not putting it back in) Maybe they would if they would not spend time cleaning.
P.s its a public place not your bedroom...

Dr_Pepper infracted. Maybe you should change your wording it reads very poorly. I think everyone is on the same side here.

If you have energy bars or something small out in the field, stuff the wrapper in your pocket, empty bottle of bb's or something too big for a pocket, leave it in a cabin and bring it up to the safe zone afterwards to a bin.

Doesn't sound like rocket science to me.

Have to concur completely, remember all those threads about maintaining our image for the longevity of the sport? Well, this is one thing we have got to do. And be fair to the site OPs, they spend every weekend in a field so you can vent you weekly frustration, little respect lads.

I think new players with bad habbits are a big part of the problem, but that said there arent enough of them to create the amount of litter thats there every week. That means regulars, yes YOU, or you team-mate. And its not like you geardos have nowhere to put your waste, your vests have plenty of space for a wrapper ect. Empty bottles, stick 'em in your dump, dont leave them and say you'll come back, chances are you wont.

Maybe its time we introduce litter firing squads...:p

Beats me anyway how people do it anyway, there is no excuse, if there are bins around whats the story? Laziness... thats all there is to it. It doesn't take a second to sort your stuff and it also gives others no excuse either. They see you use the bins...they'll do it too.;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,397 ✭✭✭Evolute

Its down to complete laziness and peoples lack of common sense.
I don't understand if you bring your lunch in a plastic bag use that as a bin before if you don't want to get up while your eating your lunch and then put that in the bin.
It seems to be Irish peoples ideals that oh if i drop it well someone will pick it up but YOU SHOULD DO IT yourself so no one has to pick up after you when they shouldn't have to worry about it.
Personally if I see someone littering I will give them a serious bollocking and honestly I think if anyone sees someone littering you should do the same.
Its the only way people will stop littering is if there is consequences to it they wont do it now those consequences can be to the site owners discretion.
Anyone feel the same as myself?

Exactly, You wouldn't drop your kacks and have a c**p in thew safe zone would you? That's what you do when you you leave that crisp bag, drink bottle lying after you. The site owners worked bloody hard to provide YOU with a safe place to play. C'mon lads - a little respect is overdue. YOU say the word - that's all it takes to clear up a bad habit, if one man is brave enough to make a move, most of the rest WILL follow.

Some one dumped a computer monitor in the hrta car park today, i have the Serial number, so this will track down the person that left it there, or the person that left it can come and take it back, you have 1 week, or i go to the litter warden.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,533 ✭✭✭iceage

I know thats a real pain in the arse...but you could use it as a prop, in a room..just an idea

i will be ringing them on monday.

    Fingal Co. Co. Local Authority
    Fingal Activity:

Fingal County Council runs a Litter Freephone service to encourage the public to report incidences of littering and illegal dumping. Reports of littering results with an on the spot fine of €125 to the offender or on failure of payment a court conviction

That is disgraceful. Whoever did it should be ashamed of themselves. FFS the councils provide for the safe disposal of all electrical goods.

This is just someone being a lazy B£$%^&d.

You know I've never been to HRTA, but I think i'm pretty sure it definately wasn't an Airsofter, especially one that would frequent HRTA. Sorry to say it Paul but some lazy good for nothing just saw the opportunity to get rid of a piece of rubbish on the cheap. Other than that, it was probably kids.

Ireland is the pits when it comes to littering. Go to any drive thru in the country and you will see some gob****es parked up throwing their left over bags out the windows and a bin less then 3 feet away.

Can't understand it? I was raised differently I suppose. Its a fundamental lack of respect and provides an insight into the characters of the individuals that behave in this manner.

Hope Paul is successful at stamping it out at his site.

Go one better, what do you expect, go to any Mc Donalds, sit down for a bite to eat, and just watch.

How many people get up and leave they're stuff on the table, or worse all over the floor? and no don't give me this "your taking someones job" sh*te" These people get payed to wipe cleared tables or tables full of stuff. No excuse.

Your right, its in the upbringing of people today, you either one or the other. I was taught to respect other people and my surroundings, leave the place as you found it...or better. There is no excuse for this type of behaviour except amongst animals, they know no better. We don't have an excuse.

I don't get the whole monitor thing.
There's a recycling centre at most 10 minutes drive away that would have taken it without charge!

    Can't, unfortunately :(

It's Hazardous Waste. CRTs contain anything from 1 to 2.5 kilos of lead, in addition to cadmium, mercury and several other nasty things I can't remember just now. If When the glass breaks, that stuff can be washed into the ground, where it will pollute the water.

I'm not saying that a BB will break it, but it would get broken sooner or later.

I can't understand dumping that monitor in HRTA either. WEEE is free! (I just wanted to say that :) )

Oh, and I believe it's a self-respect thing - we just don't respect our country enough to take care of it. If you go to a McDonalds, just for example, in certain Scandinavian countries, not only will people take their litter to the bin, they will separate it in to 3 different bins for recycling. And they don't expect some staff member on minimum wage to do it for them. We just don't care.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 23,140 ✭✭✭✭TheDoc

Id say thats worth about 500 BB's right Paul :P

But on a serious note, its been covered here, not on. It sounds the most ridic thing to dump ever.

If its an airsofter, feel free to name and shame, and hopefully we wont see them again on the field of play.

But would be almighty stupid if it was an airsofter...

also add the fact that a tube is a large capacitor which generally holds its electricity for years after being plugged out (not sure of the exact number but its in the thousands of volts and enough to kill a person)

I think the best motto to follow is "dont **** where you eat", we use these sites for our own enjoyment we're just ruining it for ourselfs

It may be more flamboyant than a crisp wrapper, but its no worse.(in principal)

Plenty of people on here I'm sure have whether by intent or accident dropped litter at hrta or some other site.

Hopefully it will be dealt with in house, a "name and shame" oh nasty pariah, Unclean Unclean! wont be much help.

I have decided to show my support in avatar format, no more dumping of ridiculous items OR packets of crisps etc., its all litter.

    Volts dont kill, Amps do.,;)

Im all for naming and shaming them, give them the opertunity to collect it and make a tenner donation to temple street, if they dont. post exactly who it was and shame them, then the other sites will know to be on the ball if that person plays there.,:)

slip of the mind there for me, even still they have the power to seriously injure/kill a person so having one as a prop might be a bad idea
