Ok tried to do some searches but couldn't find much on it (maybe i suck at searches :p)

I have an old 16gb iPod Touch but i think the new models are slick and being the gadget geek i am i want to upgrade to it.

I want to get a 32gb version i have a friend who is heading to the states in two weeks and i could buy a 32gb one over there for the price of a 16gb here and i have a couple of questions.

    1. Is buying it in the shop the same price as online or do they add the tax does anybody know?

    2. Is the warranty valid over?

    Thanks.

    1. Depending on where your friend is going in the states tax may be added (will still be cheaper than here)

    2. Yes, warranty will be grand

Of course you're damaging our economy by not buying here but that's another thread entirely :P

Also if your friend gets checked at custom on the way back you may have even more money to pay... recently a friend of mine came back from the states and customs specifically asked him if he had bought any ipods or electronic devices in the states, he hadn't...but I dunno maybe they're getting tougher on this?... Customs didn't check his bag though as it was an awkward bag to open.

    1. There's tax added on top of whatever price is listed on the website.
    2. Apple have a worldwide warranty on all portable devices (if not all devices?!!!), so yeah you'll be fine there.

Have him put the iPod in his suitcase. I brought back an 8gb iTouch and a HP Laptop and wasn't charged anything extra, nor was I even asked. They added the tax on in the shop, not sure what percentage it is though.

the percentage differs from state to state.

also a reminder, telling the OP how to avoid customs is against the rules and will land you a ban.

Right, had no idea.. sorry about that. And I have read the charter lol just didn't click.

I bought mine in Boston for $279 and seeing as they're 300e over here I saved quite a bit.
