Calibration of Panny Plasma

Just got a new Panasonic TH42PY80 42" Plasma yesterday. Have to say this is a super TV.

Before I bought this I done a lot research into what I was going to buy and the calibration of tv's kept coming up in reviews. Can someone please explain this to me and what do I need to do to calibrate my new TV or if I need to do it at all. The picture quality is fantastic as it is but if it could be better.......:)

I've seen it done with LCD's on PC's. A USB device is attached to the screen and test patterns are put up. The device gives feed back on the coulours etc. and you manaually adjust the screen with the feed back as a guide. The calibaration devices and software were very expensive last I checked.
