I had a hard copy of some details from years ago but God knows where they are now. If I can unearth them I'll email them.

In driving ranges you usually have to hit off a rubber tee on carpet. An on grass driving range is vastly supperior. This is achieved with a moving roof on rails which ensures fresh grass at the tee. Tee boxes should accomodate either left or right handed golfers at 4m centres.

Driving ranges can optimise their site by being multistorey and floodlight, the capture area should be fan shaped surrounded by a high fence, 400m is a good zone. It should also incorporate a pro shop.

    Sinnerboy,
If you have the chance, go and have a look at the driving range at Carton House - just outside Maynooth. Every one I know says it's the best there is! (I'm no golfer so I don't know)

I've used it and liked it, has an indoor area and an outdoor are (off grass)

    Multistory would maximise, not optimise.
To get the best from a range (as a golfer), the ground floor is best, as driving from higher up leads to an elevation error
What to do depends on the market and site imo
