I have an issue with malware. I am using Malwarebytes Anti-malware to try to fix a laptop that has an "insufficient resources available" issue and keeps freezing.

Anyway. I run the malware program and when it is complete I delete/remove the infected/culprit files.

Afterwards I reboot the laptop but the freezing/sluggish issue still existed. I ran the malware program again just to see what happened and there was still issues i.e. there were viruses still being picked up.

    Any thoughts/hints/tips/advice greatly appreciated.

    First do this..

Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune from http://www.atribune.org/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=25&Itemid=25 .

    Save it to your Desktop.

    Run ATF Cleaner
    • Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.
    • Click Select All found at the bottom of the list.
    • Click the Empty Selected button.
    • Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.

MBAM is designed to operate better in normal mode rather than safe mode. Having him run it again wont help the situation.

    Do this OP

CLICK HERE to download the HijackThis Installer:
    1. Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
    2. Double-click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
    3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
    4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
    5. Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
    6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
    7. Click on "Edit -> Select All" then click on "Edit -> Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
    8. Come back here to this thread and paste the log in your next reply.
    9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

    Nothing I cant fix :)

First, Download LSPFix.exe to a convenient location. Do NOT run this program. This is only to be used if you lose Internet Access after removing NewDotNet.

To Get rid of NewDotNet, go to:

Start > Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs and remove the following:

New.Net Applications or New.Net Domains (anything that says New.Net)

If it is not there, go here and follow Procedure 4: NewDotNet Removal Procedure 4.

In the event that you lose Internet access after removing New.Net, please double-click LSPFix.exe that you downloaded earlier. Check the "I know what I'm doing" button. You will see 2 panels. If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. If nothing is listed under the "Remove Panel", do NOT do anything - just close the program. You will need to use another computer to come back here for further instructions on what to do.

    1. Please re-open HiJackThis and choose do a system scan only. Check the boxes next to ONLY the entries listed below(if present):

    R3 - URLSearchHook: Yahoo! Toolbar - {EF99BD32-C1FB-11D2-892F-0090271D4F88} - (no file)
    O2 - BHO: URLLink - {4A2AACF3-ADF6-11D5-98A9-00E018981B9E} - C:\Program Files\NewDotNet\newdotnet7_48.dll (file missing)

    2. Now close all windows other than HiJackThis, including browsers, so that nothing other than HijackThis is open, then click Fix Checked. A box will pop up asking you if you wish to fix the selected items. Please choose YES. Once it has fixed them, please exit/close HijackThis.

    • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
    • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
    • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
    • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

    Check out these files ASJ.

Took me a while to get to that stage due to a few crap outs because of "insufficient system resources" issues.

    What do you think?

No need to attach the logs

Plug your USB keys in for this

Please click on Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs and uninstall the following programs(if present):

    New.net Domains 7.48-->C:\WINDOWS\NDNUNI~2.EXE

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
    • Save it to your desktop.
    • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
    • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Then post a new Rsit log

This is getting tough ASJ. I am online on a mac downloading the various programs you are suggesting and transferring them to a USB key and then to the 'infected' laptop which cannot connect to the internet.

Getting there though - thanks for this help.

Here is the latest log file.

    in the next post!

Lets see about fixing your net connection, try this

If there is any file listed in the "Remove" panel on the right-side, leave it as is and just click "Finish>>" then reboot your computer and you should now have access to the Internet. Nothing in the 'Remove' panel ASJ, so I just closed the program.

    What do you think?

    Try download and run this

    http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/Network-Tweak/WinSockFix.shtml

Reboot and see if that fixes it

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 83 ✭✭2rs

I am at a loss on this ASJ!

There is a network connection but IE cannot display any webpages. The system is still pretty sluggish.

Should I retry some of your earlier suggestions again?
