Should Plasma Burn in really be a concern?

A friend of mine says to avoid Plasma TV's like the plague as you risk "Burn In". My understanding is that for normal television use this is very unlikely - its only if you have the same image in screen permanently for years it may become a factor.

    What do you think?

TBH it's only really a concern when gaming from my experience. Several long sessions on the PS3 have left noticeable burn in when I change inputs. A few hours of regular TV watching usually gets rid of that.
It is generally not a problem for watching TV, unless you watch a channel such as sky news/sports where there is a noticeable logo in the corner that might burn in if left on for too long.
It's mainly an issue for commercial installations where you might have a plasma in a pub/office/shop displaying the same channel 12 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Burn-in is impossible these days on Plasma but image retention does happen depending on the usage.
If you have static bright hud against black background you can get retention. Watching TV for a few minutes clears it.
I game alot on my Plasma and have never had any issues with burn-in or retention TBH.

I use a Panasonic 42" FullHD plasma, with PS3. Occasionally, if I leave tv with the XMB onscreen for a while, I'll notice the outline of where the icons were, though these disappear in a few minutes when display changes.
