PS3 Question

Hey there lads, im giving my brother my laptop cause i don't really need it anymore, my question is, how good is the internet browser on the ps3 if i bought a mouse and keyboard for it? Could i look at sites such as youtube, paddypower etc etc or is the browser a bit crap? And can i download a new browser onto my ps3? Sorry for the newbie questions!

The PS3 browser isn't great. Most who want a browser would probably install a flavour of linux. The ps3 browser is limited as it supports a pretty old version of Flash. So while you could use the PS3 browser with usb keyboard and mouse of your choice, and while youtube works fine, lots of websites with video content that use a newer version of flash do not work at all e.g. gametrailers, gamespot etc... The browser is also limited to opening approx 8 windows at a time maximum. There is also some text formatting issues with the browser on message forums like boards where linebreaks don't work. And it doesn't support some https sites properly. About the only thing I use if for is downloading PS3 themes from ps3-themes or allps3themes.

Buy a used iPod touch. Then you can game and surf and listen to some choons.

Is it easy to install Yellow Dog Linux v6.x on the PS3? it has firefox as its browser so that would do the job i'd say..
