Might help to start with an idea of budget, size restrictions etc?

Multiple HDMI slots and 1080P would be a start anyway.

The size I will deal with later. I'm kind of guessing the bigger the better. But this will more than likely by a emm "compact" one.

More the High definition specs I'm talking about.

    15" @1024x768?
Jesus, even my laptop's bigger & has better resolution.

    For PS3, at least get a 1280x720 (720p) screen.
    Or 1920x1080p.

Could even get a 1920x1200 24"+ monitor for around that money.

If you are only sitting 2 to 4 feet away like me get a 32", and preferably a 1080p version. I got a Sony Bravia 32w4000 which is superb but cost a ridiculous 1k euro at that time (a few months ago). The quality is the best I have ever seen though and has the least input lag of any LCD TV on the market so suited towards gaming. It also has a fairly decent 30w digital amp with virtual surround so ideal in bedroom and no need for 3rd party speakers. The 40" version is even better and sports a 10 bit panel, but of course no software content is supporting this yet.

More then 4-5 feet I'd say go for a 40" +. The bigger the better in this situation as it will be very difficult to resolve 1080p content below 40" at normal viewing distances. Hence why you hear people talk about getting monster sets as they can't tell the difference at normal viewing distances between 720p and 1080p. Assuming you go for a 40"-42", Currys were selling this years Samsung and LG models for between 1-1.1k. And I believe they had last years Sharp Aquous 46" going for an unbelievable 1,250. All 1080p sets of course.

The newer models are coming with support for 24hz playback which tends to get rid of the stuttering some people see with BD movies. Other features being touted are 100hz motion compensation which basically tries to add frames. Helps with sports broadcasts apparently but makes movies look like documentaries (bad) and can add lag to games. So make sure you can turn this feature off. Also at least 2 hdmi inputs is a must, and try and get a set that will do 1080p not over just HDMI but over VGA and other inputs as well if possible.

If you can afford one, get a Pioneer Kuro. That is all.

The two things you need to consider is the resolution and the contrast ratio. The higher the number on each of these the better. Most games don't output in 1080p so I wouldn't get overly bothered about the resolution unless you are going to get a large set. Mine is 46" 1080p with a contrast ration of 50,000:1. Have my PS3 hooked up via component and it looks very nice:)

Is this thread a piss take? You ask for TV for PS3, then don't say mention size & price range or features. Then link to 15" LCD TV that would look fairly crap on analogue stations let alone trying to play PS3 on it.

I wondered the very same thing.
