    Not a new thing but it seems to be getting more and more common to release teasers months and months before release. Sometimes even before a foot of film is shot. Normally these just consist of text flashing on screen with the logo at the end (See the episode of southpark where the kids wait for the Terrence and Philip sequel trailer). However, some can be good. Check this out from Strange Days:
