[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]The 24/7 SMS QuitBuddy is on hand where and when you need encouragement most. Just text "Quit" at any time to 57501 and get one of a selection of hard hitting reminders by reply to help you beat off the cravings. Texts cost €1.

[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Not really a question concerning smoking, but why is it that the texts should cost that much? Maybe its just for the upkeep of the service, but for something sponsored by the Dublin City Enterprise board it just seems as if its a service offered to garner money and not to actually help much at all. I've seen plenty of other state sponsored services which are provided at just the cost of a normal text message. Sure, ciggies may hit the wallet hard but so would this service if you don't regulate the amount you use it.

What is that service? Is that Government funded? If it is, its a bloody disgrace. If not, then BOOOO to whoever set that price.
Text a mate instead, they'll give you support for free.

It's not really in the governments interests short term for anyone to give up smoking...less revenue. You could argue itll cost more over time.

I think it's a private site, when you think about it 1 text is almost the price of 2 cigerettes, so it's money well spent, something has to pay for the site and it's hosting etc, personally I found the site great when I was giving up

Are you sure you dont work for them?

There is not much on the site, cant cost that much to run. Private though it may be, it shows up even more how much the HSE fails in comparrisson to organisations like the NHS in the UK.
