    Hi All,

I just recently bought a Lidl sat system and have it all connected to the two TV's in the house. With one TV I use the receiver that came with the package and that all works great. The other TV is connected to a computer and I purchased a Hauppauge WinTV-NOVA-HD-S2 card. I use DVBviewer Pro as the software to watch the channels. And that all works great to.

What I am wondering about is freesat and getting some pay channels onto the TV attached to the computer. Do you get more channels on Freesat than you get on FTA? Is it possible to get Freesat on the setup I have already? And if I wanted to watch a Setanta sports is there anyway to get that on the PC?

Thanks for any replies I get. Oh sorry, another thing, is there anyway to stop the xxx channels coming up? You know the advert ones?

More channels on FTV, but comprehensive EPG with Freesat, and it automatically makes changes if, eg, PIDs change. You'd have to do this manually on your Lidl STB. To get Freesat you would have to get a Freesat receiver, and connect it to your dish as your Lidl STB is currently; as long as dish points at 28E, you'll get the channels.

Only way to stop them coming in is to not scan the transponder they're on. Easiest if doing a blind scan is to make sure no kids about and then delete them asap. Then lock the STB so they can't accidently scan them in again.

Setanta sports can be received on UK Freeview with CAM (Conditional Access Module) on DTT, also can be received on PC with Hauppauge WinTV-CI Setanta Sports Kit but again you have to be in the UK for this as it only work on UK DTT

In Ireland you will not be able to receive Setanta without sky box.

ok thanks for that. I was hoping maybe to get some sports channels or maybe some other HD channels.

When RTE go digital will I be able to get them on FTA?

Often sports on the BBCi streams, you can tune them in on the SL65 and view them like ordinary channels (12441 V 27500). BBC/ITV variations also often have local sports events. Occasional sports from Setanta, mentioned in this thread http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=2055384391 Other FTA sports channels on other sats. HD thin on the ground - others may be able to advise.

RTE already on digital satellite, but encrypted. Unlikely they will go FTA, lots of speculation here, look for the RTE FTA threads. Alternative is analogue, or terrestrial digital when it's officially launched.

    Welcome to Boards.

Freesat is really a branded / EPG / MHEG5 (interactive) version of FreeToAir, only a few micky-mouse FTA channels are not on Freesat EPG. You can tune Freesat receiver to all FTA channels and vice-versa.

There are a few FTA HD channels. The Lidl receiver can't do HD.
